I have had better more attentive servers at a diner. I met up with friends on a Tuesday night after work. There were only two other tables seated in our section and it took the waiter a long time to just get us out our drinks. We never got asked if anyone wanted soup or salad refills and the entrees were nearly finished before we got asked how everything came out.

It was horrible experience .. We ordered chicken Marsala and the chicken was uncooked .. Sauce was all over the plate ... They gave us complimentary take out and that was disgusting too .. Big disappointment

I like Olive Garden and this particular one is ok. I did however have several bad experiences with the service here. I do like Carrabbas a lot more but have to go to Allentown for that.

I like their food, but sometimes they prepare it poorly, which is annoying. I love their Chicken Alfredo, but they are sloppy and serve it with the noodles stuck together... It's like that every single time I order it. I don't cook much, but I know how to stop pasta from sticking together when it's cooked, so a chef in an Italian restaurant should know how to also! We tried their to-go service, since it's always so busy, and on multiple occasions, when I ordered the Chicken Alfredo, it was sitting so long that the sauce had turned to grease, and I only live 10 minutes away from the restaurant. Now if we get the to-go, I don't order that. I think they are too popular, which makes them complacent, and they don't have very high standards in the preparation or service.

This is my wife's favorite restaurant. The service was very attentive and the food came quick. Defiantly go here for lunch.

No one expects a five-star experience at Olive Garden ... especially on a Friday night. What one does not expect is a level of incompetence that it defies all classification. It begins with a full parking lot and cars circling like sharks, looking for anyone vacating a spot. We noticed an elderly couple take a "To Go" spot ... we noticed this because they had been trying to squeeze into the spot for the last three passes. We finally park, and walk inside. There is a line just to procure a pager. So, my mom and I patiently wait in this line. Now, here comes the elderly couple ... turtle-crawling to the front of the line and asking for a pager. Much to my mother's horror, I announce that they missed the line ... that there is a mother with two small children who is next ... nothing. The woman taking names and passing out the pagers ignores me. I continue to say (just a touch louder) that they literally missed the entire line ... this employee hands them the pager and just shrugged. She said, "What could I do?!" Are you kidding me? WHAT COULD YOU DO?! Ummm, say, "Turtle-crawl your butts back to the end of the flippin' line?!!" And, by the way, tell them to move their car from the "To Go" spot?! I guess one merely needs to "bully" one's way to the front of the line? Because, "what are they going to do," right? Of course, the two pre-mummies were seated long before everyone waiting for a pager. Once we finally reached our table, I unfurled the napkin to find dried, white "gunk" on it. I elected to think of as detergent since my dear mother would die if I pointed out yet another failing of this place. It took over ten minutes to have our drink order taken. TEN MINUTES. When the waiter arrived, I literally began the conversation with "I think we are ready to place our full order" because, after ten minutes, there was NO WAY this guy was getting away. I selected a flat-bread for my entree (I'm not a fan of frozen pastas). Perhaps this was not made clear by the server (it certainly was by me) because the flat-bread arrived after my mom completed her salad ... and a full EIGHT minutes before she received her raviolis. Respecting my mother and general etiquette, I did not eat my entree until she received hers. Of course, it was cold ... but let's add bland and thoughtless to the list. There were exactly two small pieces of goat cheese on the GOAT-CHEESE pizza (the rest was shredded mozzarella). Maybe they should consider renaming the pizza? Call it "Mozzarella Pizza with Two Nearly-Missable Specks of Goat Cheese"? I don't know. And, my mother's raviolis were smothered in what she labeled "something of a chili sauce." There was a minimum of sauce and a plethora of finely ground beef. It didn't appear to be anything approximating a traditional meat-sauce. Needless, to say, I left nearly all of my entree on the plate and she left about half. No boxes needed. Dear, ohhhh dear, no boxes needed. My mother was genuinely surprised at the incompetence of the service and the quality of the food. I cannot say I was nearly as surprised. Certainly, they have no shortage of customers who must enjoy being neglected, using soiled napkins, and eating re-heated food. I guess I need to read that Fifty-Shades of Gray book ... maybe then I'll understand why people enjoy being abused.

For lunch, it's not a bad spot to get salad and soup. I really don't dig their pasta dishes at all, though. The pizza tastes like the frozen kind you reheat in the microwave. Stick with the specials - soup and salad and never ending pasta bowl - cheap, decent eats.

Olive Garden has never been on the list of my top places to go. But all the times I have gone it's been horrible. First, it smells like dirty cheese when you come in. But maybe that's just me. I really don't get people's fascination with this restaurant, and I say fascination because it seems everyone and their grandmother in the Wilkes-Barre area goes to Olive Garden for every event. It's always packed. Anyway, the first time I went I ordered the usual salad (or soup) and bread sticks. The bread sticks were dry (like old bread), the salad I ordered had the weirdest taste, it just didn't taste right. At other restaurants I usually finish the caesar salad, even if it's okay. I couldn't even finish it. In fact, I couldn't finish any of the dishes I ordered. They all just tasted very bad. Second time I went, similar scenario. I thought it was the last time I was coming. But no! I actually just finished coming back from the restaurant a few hours ago. My fiance and I decided to give it yet another try. I ordered a soup this time (Minestrone) and it was very bland. My fiance ordered bread sticks and again, the same old and dry taste. Our entrees were mediocre to say the least. Part of my main dish was cold and other parts just had a bad taste. His entree as well. I don't know what it is about this place but I can't stand it anymore. I have given it three chances and all of them have been very disappointing. It's not quality food at all. But I guess you can expect that from a chain restaurant. I don't consider it authentic Italian food in any way. The service was very good though! On a side nore, an Italian restaurant I do HIGHLY recommend to everyone is Carrabba's. Been there several times, tried different dishes, and every single thing on their menu is delicious. Very authentic and the service is great. There's one in Allentown if you're willing to take the drive! It's definitely worth it! I'm sure if they were to put a Carrabba's in Wilkes-Barre, Olive Garden will go out-of-business in a month or less. Or maybe not, people like shitty food sometimes.

It was a Sunday night, and we needed to eat out for dinner. The options were severely limited because it was a holiday weekend. Olive Garden went from low on the list, to the best possible option given the circumstances. Its easy to pick on the Olive Garden, but I've actually had some decent meals at this location. I've also had a some bad ones too, and unfortunately this trip falls into the bad category. It started out strong with the salad, and went south from there. Everything was super greasy. My chicken and shrimp pasta dish was overflowing with grease. I couldn't even eat the overcooked pasta, because it was covered in grease. The pork entrée was really greasy too, and the tortellinis were essentially nuggets of fat. It reminded me of what tortellini would look like if if McDonalds served it for breakfast. While the food pretty much sucked, I have to give credit to our waitress. She was professional, friendly, and quite attentive.

My kids wanted to stop here for lunch. I never do chains but I was pleasantly surprised with my meal so I had to say a few words. I remember about 20 years ago eating at an Olive Garden and the bread sticks were real and delicious, but now they are horrible. I have no idea why the salad is popular either, however, I ordered Capellini Pomodoro and I was pleasantly surprised by how tasty it was. It was a simple red marinara loaded with tomato, garlic and I added plenty of parmesan cheese. The waitress was SUPER nice so I truly enjoyed my meal.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
